Editorial Review

The Riverside Hotel has a top-notch location at the bottom of Montague Road, smack bang in the middle of Brisbane’s South Bank cultural precinct. This prime position makes it a popular choice for corporate groups and tourists alike who want to stay somewhere within close proximity to the city. The hotel offers comfortable accommodation and a very pleasing restaurant that hotel guests and visitors both recommend – Montague’s. Named after the street on which the hotel resides, Montague’s offers a seasonal menu of modern Australian creations that takes inspiration from local Queensland produce.

The menu leans towards having a seafood focus. An entree of fresh tiger doesn’t hit the deck with their slightly briny flavour. Montague’s signature dish of steamed wild barramundi, Tasmanian salmon and seasonal vegetables with dipping sauce is served in a bamboo steamer basket which is as visually appealing as it is delicious. Another dish that is a seasoned favourite at Montague’s is the Barkers Creek pork loin cutlet, filled with cheddar cheese and Champagne ham before being rolled in crushed macadamias and served with a plum glaze. Montague’s is quite accessible if you are familiar with South Brisbane although parking can be an issue.
