Editorial Review

You can't miss Talay Thai on Racecourse Road. Just head for the largest, most beautiful fig tree in the street, look beneath its outstretched branches and you will find a pleasant restaurant peering out from under the foliage. It is a cosy spot that boasts outdoor dining that can be enclosed on the cooler nights, while still maintaining the arboreal atmosphere beneath the fig tree. Indoor there are tables clad in crisp white cloths and friendly Thai waitstaff to help you enjoy your dining experience, but the magic doesn't stop there. The delicious food is of such a standard that Talay Thai gained a spot as a regional finalist in Queensland's Restaurant and Catering Awards in 2006.

The extensive menu offers many traditional Thai dishes cooked to order, thus enhancing the freshness of the flavours. Start with a tom yum goong of fiery hot spices, clear broth, prawns, mushrooms and lemongrass. Once the taste buds have had a moment to recover, nibble on something small such as chicken satay or rice paper rolls filled with slices of duck, mint, noodles and lettuce. Complete the meal with something fresh, perhaps a crispy fish salad or stir-fry, or a fiery curry such as the popular Penang and Massaman.

Bruce (owner): The customer Richard was asked nicely to next time give his voucher when he asks for the bill. This is because it is cleared from the till after printing therefore the GST has to be done manually. Richards reply was a very nasty "I dont give a shit about your accounting". We have been in the Entertainment Guide for 5 yrs and accept it willingly but unfortunately Richard didn't tell the full story. (06 November 2008)

Danny: The customer service at Talay Thai can only be described as exceptional, as for the food - even better. Around the Bne metro area I think I've eaten in just about every existing Thai restaurant, but I keep coming back to Talay Thai because of the food. The bugs and calamari (salt & pepper) in particular are unbelievable. (02 November 2008)

Richard: After a wonderful meal at Talay Thai I've just been told by the owner to have a sh*t Christmas;**** off and don't come back because I used a valid entertainment book voucher without letting them know before requesting the bill. While I don't want to cause any offense to readers... this is the experience I had. I won't be returning to this restaurant. (21 December 2007)
