Down is a heavy metal supergroup. Or as close to a supergroup as you get in metal. Formed in ‘91, the New Orleans act consists of former members of Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar and other acts. They're managed by Dave ‘The Snake' Sabo, the guitarist from Skid Row. You can just imagine what their house partys are like ... Anyway, they've released three studio albums to date. That's not exactly prolific for a 17-year career, but we're assuming they've been busy with other bands and stuff. Down is more like the band they all play with every second Thursday in some dude's garage. Which is not to take anything away from the music, it's just the way they roll.

Nola, their ‘95 debut, would go on to sell over one million copies and they're two subsequent albums have all charted in the US. There latest and greatest, 2007's Down III, Over the Under, reached number 26 on the US Billboard charts, and that's the release they're showcasing on their current Australian tour.

Blending their southern roots with metal, rock and blues influences, Down might not release albums very often, but they're usually pretty special when they do arrive. As are the accompanying live shows.
