Editorial Review
The Getaway Plan are an odd beast. Equal parts screamo rock and pop melodies, they walk a fine line between Video Hits and shoegazing. It's a tightrope act they've successfully managed to work since 2004, scoring a number of radio hits in the process. Oh, and touring with some of the biggest acts in the business.
That touring schedule tells you a lot about The Getaway Plan. With support slots for bands like My Chemical Romance, Unwritten Law and Kisschasy, it's obvious the band manages to cross several different sub-genres during the course of a set - straight punk to commercial rock, and everything in between.
That cross pollination was evident on their debut album, 2007's Other Voices, Other Rooms, which debuted at number three on the ARIA Charts. Spearheaded by radio staple Where the City Meets the Sea, the album has scored both strong sales and critical praise. What next? Well, obviously a tour sounds like the reasonable thing to do. And on that note, you'll notice that The Getaway Plan are currently criss-crossing Australia at a great rate.
