Editorial Review
One of the first acts signed to Fat Wreck Chords, Strung Out have blazed a trail through the US punk and metal scene since 1992. Well, we say metal but that's not entirely correct. Fusing elements of punk and hardcore with metal, the band have forged their own sound over the past 15 or so years. In the process they've released seven albums, a handful of EPs and countless singles.
Releasing a 7" single back in 91 (when people still did that kinda thing), Strung Out came to the attention of Fat Wreck Chords records. Back then it was still a fledgling start-up run by Fat Mike from NOFX. Whatever the case, the label liked the release and promptly signed the band. That partnership has lasted to this day and has seen both label and band enjoy tremendous success. They might not trouble the top 10, but Strung Out have built up a loyal fanbase and shift more than enough units to stay afloat. The festivals and live-shows also help. The band has been booked for the Warped Tour on several occasions and has played internationally on a number of tours.
Album number seven, Blackhawks Over Los Angeles was released last year and, appropriately enough, the group are taking it on the road. If you want vintage west coast punk then you know what to do.
