The Victory Hotel is just that: a victory against the forces of boredom. Forget the Valley; packing six bars inside one venue might be a little ambitious, but the Victory appears to have done it. The club has a host of entertainment options will see you through the week; from student parties and karaoke, to live bands and ladies night.

DJs ply their trade most nights of the week - depending on the room/bar you're in - and live bands make a ruckus on the weekends. When you add regular happy hours and drink promotions (is there no end to scantily clad damsels?!), inebriation is assured. We don't even need to talk about cocktails - which the Victory have a fair selection of in the dedicated cocktail lounge - because you'll probably have your hands full with the punters …sorry, that should be, the drink specials.

And if the rowdy, slightly young crowd on the inside don't gel with your delicate sensibilities, you could do worse than escape to the beer garden outside. Big enough to avoid the eyes of anyone you've made a pass at, but small enough to navigate safely after five cocktails, it's a decent place to park your pert behind. One word of warning: this place packs out on Thursday nights, being the weekly student party. Don't say we didn't tell ya.
