The Dutchman responsible for bringing classical music back to the people and taking Waltzing Matilda to the top of the ARIA charts is touring Australia for A Romantic Night in Vienna. Those who have witnessed Andre Rieu in concert tend to classify the experience in the life-changing department. Rieu, his violin and the Johann Strauss Orchestra and Choir combine classical with popular and folk music without holding back on the emotion or humour.

If you're a fan of classical performance, but not of the library-like manner expected of audiences, then Rieu is for you. The master of the waltz is all about making people happy and if that means dancing in the aisles he's all for it. The performance involves figure skaters, horse-drawn carriages and the Vienna State Opera Ballet. Rieu is conducting a world stadium tour with a transportable set that requires 80 transport containers and 100 stage builders to organise. With the set taking seven full days to build, this is one epic show.

Rieu's numerous CD and DVD releases with the Johann Strauss Orchestra have sold phenomenally on a global scale and dominated Australia's pop charts in 2007. Be sure to catch A Romantic Night in Vienna as Europe is transported to Australia in what might just be the concert of the year.
