The Environmentally Friendly Honda.

In our ongoing commitment to lead the world in clean air technology for our automotive customers, Honda Australia has launched the country's first Low Emission Vehicles (LEM) in 1999. These cars will reduce the smog causing emissions to a staggering 80% below the required official Australian standards.

In fact, in Japan, Honda research and development has created and experimental petrol-powered engine so clean that it has been dubbed the ZLEV (Zero Level Emission Vehicle).

This engine provides so few gases that the exhaust emissions are often cleaner than the ambient air. Honda's breakthrough technologies were evident 50 years ago with the very foundation of the Company car making activities. The proof was in the pudding when in 1972 the Honda Civic was the first car in the world to pass the most stringent emission regulations of the Muskie Act in the United States.
